Admission - the application process

 

Applying for pharmacy Frequently asked questions:
.Apply on line at www.utas.edu.auau/apply. If you have completed your application using the online system you will also be able to change your preferences throught that site; or in person at the Student Centre (Hobart or Launceston) or at the Cradle Coast Campus or by mail to: Private Bag 45, Hobart Tas 7001 Acknowledgements that they have received your application will be available on the web. International students must follow the procedure as outlined on the international student website.
 

Do I need to attend University orientations?
The pharmacy orientation, usually run on the Friday before the start of semester 1 is the most important orientation you will need to attend.

Does the BPharm course have a semester 2 intake?
No. Most units in the Bachelor of Pharmacy are administratively semesterised, and the sequential order of study is sem 1 followed by sem 2, with the results from sem 1 incorporated into sem 2 to give a final overall result.

     
Offers   What if I am unsuccessful in gaining a place in my preferred course?

An application for enrolment and a HECS-HELP form will be forwarded to you with your letter of offer.

  You will be offered a place in an alternative course that best matches your original preference.
     
Enrolment   What if I want to change my course preferences?
Complete and return your application for enrolment and HECS-HELP form by the date specified in your letter of offer.   You can change your preference by writing or emailing (from the same email account you provided with your application) the Admissions Office. If you applied online you can also change your preferences online.

Once I've received an offer, how do I know which units to enrol in?
Pharmacy have the year 1 units preprinted on your enrolment form, and this needs to be returned to Student Centre. Any queries regarding your preprinted units should be directed to Mrs Hadolt in the School of Pharmacy office. You can also find the units description in the

  What assistance is available?
There are a range of services available to help students success in their studies, including - learning skills, counselling, careers advice and disability advisers. Also, visit the year 1 undergraduate student website.
     

  What if I don't have the prereqs for Pharmacy?
Foundation units are specifically designed for students who need to upgrade their academic results to meet University entry requirements. Chemistry Foundation unit is offered in summer school and semester 2. Contact the School of Chemistry for further advice. Maths Foundation unit is offered in summer school . Contact the School of Mathematics for further advice.
