The School has several streams of natural products research underway involving products native to Tasmania.

One project is examining the clinical use of Kunzea oil for a variety of topical applications. Preclinical screening has shown good antimicrobial activity against a number of organisms involved in skin ailments. This project is being undertaken with the involvement of commercial partners.

Another project is evaluating the pharmaceutical and horticultural potential of oils from Callitris species.
