Luke Bereznicki is the 2007 recipient of the TEMCO Science & Technology Award, a category of the Young Achievers Awards which were announced on Saturday night, 14 April.

Awards Australia yearly invite interested persons in the search for nominations for outstanding Australians contributing to society in a positive way.

The purpose of the Young Achiever Awards is to acknowledge, encourage, reward and most importantly promote the positive achievements of young Australians.

This category is sponsored by TEMCO, and their General Manager, Mr Greg Hannan, presented Luke with his award. The criteria for the category Luke has won for 2007 includes: goals and degree of difficulty in achieving, complexity of endeavour, inventiveness, ingenuity and entrepreneurial skills, scientific, technical or engineering awards received (include samples where possible) and contribution to community, commercial application, or broader field of research.

Luke graduated in 2002 from the Tasmanian School of Pharmacy with first class honours. 

In 2003, he was an inaugural recipient of a National Institute of Clinical Studies PhD Scholarship.  His research program was focussed on the implementation of strategies to improve the quality use of anticoagulants in the hospital and community settings. 

In 2006 he was named the National Prescribing Service Quality Use of Medicine student of the year for his work in quality improvement and received the National Pearcey Young Achiever Award for innovative and pioneering achievement in information technology.

Luke is based at the Tasmanian School of Pharmacy where he became Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice in 2007.
