The Tasmanian School of Pharmacy strongly recommends
that student have their immunisation status up to date.
This is for the student's protection and also for
the protection of people with whom they will be in contact on clinical
teaching rounds and later in their professional career and may thus
have both medical and legal implications. The School of Pharmacy
recommends that students ensure immunity to the following diseases.
Advice on immunisation is available from the Student Health Practitioner
or your own General Practitioner.
- diphtheria
- polio
- measles
- mumps
- rubella
- tetanus
- hepatitis B
- meningitis vaccination
This is for information only but please remember
that immunity for hepatitis B is a lengthy process and students
are encouraged to begin the course of vaccines six months before
beginning year 3 studies.
Hospital ID cards necessary for hospital rounds
in years 3 and 4 of the course will not be issued without formal
written acknowledgement by students in year 3 that they have read
and understood the above. A letter will be given to students in
year 3 to sign and return to say that they acknowledge this.
