Fast-track Bachelor of Pharmacy

 

Introduction
Do you have a previous degree- or have you completed at least two years - in the sciences/health sciences area? The possibility of undertaking the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in three years, rather than four, may be available to you due to credit which may be awarded for previous study.

* These units are pharmacy specific and you must have undertaken a unit deemed equivalent to this in a previous pharmacy/pharmaceutical science degree.
   
^ These pharmacology units are pharmacy specific and previous pharmacology may not be equivalent if studied in a science degree. In some instances credit may be granted on the condition that you attend certain elements of this unit.


So how do you know whether you are eligible to fast-track?
You need to look at the units listed below - and if you think you meet the criteria, please directly email the Office Manager once you have submitted your application.

Requirements:
Students must have completed (or units deemed equivalent):

KRA113, KRA114 Chemistry (25% weighted)

CHG111, CHG112 Human Biology (25% weighted)

Students must also have completed any two of the following (or units deemed equivalent):

CSA230, CSA231 Pharmacology (25% weighted)

CSA225 Medicinal Chemistry (12.5% weighted)

CJA214 Microbiology (12.5% weighted)

CBA221 Biochemistry (12.5% weighted)

KRA226 Organic Chemistry (12.5% weighted)

Students must have successfully completed the equivalent of at least two years' full-time study at university level.

Enrolment

  • Enrolment will be subject to approval by the Head of School.
  • Students will enrol in both CSA155, CSA156 and CSA255, CSA256 plus other units as determined.
  • The maximum overload carried by any student will not exceed 12.5%
  • Withdrawal from CSA255, CSA256 without academic penalty will be subject to the normal university conditions and timetable.
  • Failure in units, will make the candidate ineligible to continue without prerequisite requirements (ie failure in CSA155, CSA156 will result in candidate being unable to enrol in CSA255, CSA256 until CSA155, CSA156 is successfully completed).

Timetable
Although every effort will be made to avoid or minimise timetable clashes for units normally taken in different years of the Bachelor of Pharmacy course, no guarantee can be given that such clashes will not occur. In such circumstances, the School cannot accept responsibility for the inability of students to attend all teaching sessions in all units.
